Step back in time in Yuen Long

Despite its rapid development these years, you could still have a glimpse of traditional architectures of old local villages in Yuen Long and indulge in its heritage ambiance by its surroundings and neighborhood. Lung Tin Tsuen is one of them worth for exploring.

Locating between Tai Kei Leng Tsuen and Lam Hau Tsuen, Lung Tin Tsuen reflects the typical yet signature architecture in the early stage of Hong Kong, in terms of its design and layout. The blue-bricked buildings have perfectly demonstrated the interpretation and determination of old generations towards architectural aesthetics. The process of making blue bricks is sophisticated yet fully shows the essence of traditional craftsmanship. Thanks for the blue bricks, the entire Lung Tin Tsuen has been embraced with senses of elegant and harmony.

With the contrast of new buildings at the surroundings, the grey-blue exterior of Lung Tin Study Hall and Lung Tin Tsuen No. 21- No.23 have truly shown its art of heritage and vintage.

Built in 1926, 2-storey Lung Tin Study Hall was the only study hall or school for providing education to children at the villages nearby. It was then re-developed as a residential property in 1984, and has been abandoned for years.

Lung Tin Tsuen, a branch village of Shap Pat Heung Matian Village, currently preserves 3 old village houses which were built in the 1930s. Established by villagers from Sze Yup Region of Guangdong Province, the village houses were constructed with typical Sze Yap blue bricks and rarely designed in a symmetrical layout. Houses are facing each other which make some gates are facing to the East, some to the West.
