Singapore is made up of the main island itself, Singapore and 62 smaller islands. Compare with the urban area covered with public housing, shopping mall on the main island, the outlying islands offer you completely different sceneries.

There were no lions in this Lion City
The lion head is also a symbol of Singapore. However, lion has never lived in this country.
The government of Singapore says that lion represents strength, excellence and courage, that’s why it becomes a symbol of their country.

The locals speak Singlish, not just English
In the movie “I Not Stupid”, you can find it infused with a slew of Singlish phrases and Singaporean slang. You might hear: “lah”, “lor”, “leh”, “meh”, “kena”, when you communicate with a Singaporean. Singlish includes language of English, Malay, Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi and more.

You can’t chew gum in Singapore?
It is legal to chew gum in Singapore. However, you won’t find a chewing gum in any store. Selling chewing gum to a person without medical prescription is officially forbidden in Singapore.

Quickest pedestrians on earth
Singaporeans are communally the quickest pedestrians on earth according to a study by the British Council. On average, they can walk about 6.15km in an hour!

It’s one of the world’s greenest cities
Nearly half of Singapore’s land area is under green cover. New developments must include plant life, in the form of green roofs, cascading vertical gardens, and verdant walls.
